Kelly has proposed several changes to The Charming Girls Quilt Club as it enters its second year. One is to incorporate monthly themes, so that we can get to know each other better, and think and blog about things other than just quilting. Not that quilting is a bad thing! I know that quilting is a form of therapy for me, and I suspect it is for others as well.
I've actually been working on Self Care quite diligently the past few months. I've been struggling with depression, in addition to a diagnosis of Diabetes. I've been working hard on getting my eating under control in order to lose weight and get my blood sugar levels under control. I've been learning as much as I can, and have reawakened my love for cooking. I've scoured numerous cookbooks and I've found a favorite that is filled with delicious healthy low-carb recipes. What better time to start eating healthier than when you can go to the produce stand and come home with a wide selection of fresh-picked fruits and vegetables! The hubby has been tending a nice selection of herbs, which we incorporate into as many foods as we can.
I need to start exercising more - a lot more. Since it's summer, here are two pictures taken this weekend of my favorite exercise.

Next weekend we'll be heading to OBX for a week of sun and fun with my entire family. The early morning hours will be filled with long walks on the beach searching for the perfect seashell. We'll do some kayaking there, as well. Mostly, I plan to just relax, enjoy the family, and come back refreshed and rejuvenated. I love the beach more than any place on earth.

Picture me here for an entire week!
