Fun for Me and Fun for You!

Last November I decided not to participate in our local Shop Hop, because I still had at least two projects purchased the prior year that had yet to be started.  However, I found some laminated cards that listed all the shops with their addresses and phone numbers.  I said Self, that would be a good thing to have in your car.  And it came in handy today.  We made the hour and a half trek back to Baltimore for a post op procedure that took about 2 and a half minutes.  So I decided that we should make the trip worthwhile, and whipped out the card to See if there was a shop nearby.  Not only was there a shop, but they were having  a yard sale!

Are you ready for this?  I bought 29 patterns for 50 cents each!!!!!  I couldn't decide, and for that price, I just kept throwing them into my basket.

Single fat quarters were only $1.00, so a few came home with me.
Nothing like a little Quilt Shop therapy to make a girl feel better.  On the way home, we stopped at a new Wegamans in a neighboring town.  It's the first time I've been to Wegamen's, and it was pretty nice.  I found this on my way to the checkout.

I think I remember paying a nickel for these back in the olden days.  They're 99 cents now, but I had to have one.
To top off my fun, I scrolled through a few blogs when I got home, and found out I won this wonderful prize at The Raspberry Rabbits!

Now, I do believe this is Post #200 for me, so I think I should share the fun.  I think I may have 'accidentally' purchased more than one of a few patterns, Please comment on this post to be entered, and tell me what your favorite part of making a quilt is.  Do you have a favorite block?  Do you love to applique?  How about embroidery or crazy quilting.  Are you a master quilter?  Share the best part with me.  Good luck!  Drawing will be held Monday night, and international entries are welcome.

Counting my blessings...and my new patterns...Sunny

  3. What a fun day you had! I don't think I would have been able to stop at that price either. I think my favorite part of quilting is the cutting. I find is so soothing. I also like the finished product reveal too - ha ha!

  4. You are a sweet sharing your 'candies' with us - and I am glad the retail therapy helped you a little bit through this difficult times.
When choosing a new project I like the difficulties it presents and the getting to understand and 'to know' how to make it.
I am a beginner and all the techniques are fascinating to me. Have to try! I usually don't like my finished project as I often think the colours are not 'together'.
Thanks for the chance to win your giveaway

  11. Wow, this is a great post on so many levels. First, the laminated card is genius! I will have to make one of those for me! What a great way to make the trip worthwhile (besides the whole medical procedure part, which I'm sure was important) Wow! You totally scored! I wouldn't have been able to hold back on the fat quarter sale. And look at all those patterns! Congrats on the 200 posts! And thanks for the awesome giveaway! My favorite part of quilting is the piecing. Mindlessly sewing small pieces of fabric together is fun!

  13. Choosing fabric is probably my favorite part. I do a lot of scrap quilting and a significant part of my fabric is gifted/salvaged. So, working with what I have is a fun challenge.

It sounds like you had a fun trip.
