What a week.

There are still a few leaves!
What an unbelievable week.  We were very fortunate when Sandy blew through.  Our town got six inches of rain and some strong gusty winds, but there were few power outages, and very little damage.  My heart goes out to those who were closer to the coast and had their lives altered forever.

Our company shut down at noon on Monday, and was closed on Tuesday.  Life here seemed to be getting back to normal by Wednesday.  seemed to be.  I've tried this paragraph three times now, and it's hard.  DH lost his sister and then his father this week.  We've been in shock the past few days.  We are far away from either of them, so we've been waiting to hear about plans and arrangements.  I was to go to a scrapbook retreat this weekend, and I almost cancelled because I had to get some work done, but it turns out we won't be traveling anywhere this week, so I did make it to the retreat.

That's my college roommate on the right, and the reason I still go to scrapbook retreats.  I'd much rather be at a quilt retreat!  I wasn't very productive, but it was good to get away for a couple of days and wind down.   When I got  home today, I stitched a few hexie stepping stones, because I hadn't stitched anything for THREE days!  whew.....I feel so much better now.

Hopefully the coming week will bring some normalcy, and then we'll be traveling to California the following week for a memorial service.

Keep on stitching.....Sunny

  24. Sorry for your losses. I think it's wonderful that you go to the scrapbook retreat to meet up with your college roomate, even if it's not your favorite hobby. The friendship is the most important thing.
