All About Glass

IMG_0642IMG_0645

Today dawned cloudy and dreary, with rain threatening all day.  But that didn’t stop us.  We’re staying near Corning, NY, so off to the Corning Museum of Glass we went.  A Glass blowing demonstration was starting just as we entered, and it was fascinating to watch this:

We also saw a glass breaking demonstration, and a flame work demo.  Then we wandered through the gallery section for awhile:

This stained glass was quite large, and very beautiful.

Then of course we were routed through the gift shop as we tried to exit.  I bought a very pretty hand made bowl, but it’s still in the car, so no picture for now.

The rest of the day was spent walking along the “Gaffer District” which is a shopping district in Corning, but most of the shops were closed.  We did have a nice lunch, and then drove over to the next town so I could do some book shopping.

Now I need to go finish my research and planning for tomorrow!

Thank you all for your good wishes for my bil.  He is home from the hospital and continues to do very well.

Be kind to yourself and to all you encounter…Sunny

  1. sounds like you are having a wonderful time. Did you know that there is a huge glass studio just two miles from my home? If you want to try it out they offer hands on workshops. I think there is one up near your home too. I always wanted to try that.
