Fall Retreat and CGQC Goals for Nov/Dec

I've just returned from our Guild's Fall Retreat, and I was able to give my new camera quite the workout.  This post is very photo heavy.  I only wish I could do justice to the beauty that surrounded me.  I almost didn't go to the retreat because I don't really know anyone, but I decided that was my depression talking, and that going to the retreat would hopefully be the perfect place to make new friends.  And make new friends I did.  They are a wonderful group of very talented ladies, and were all warm and friendly, and very giving and sharing of tools, advice, and encouragement.  One young lady was only thirteen and made an appliqued quilt of bugs!  She came with her grandmother and they both seemed to have a wonderful time together.  One lady had an amazing bow-tie quilt that was all hand pieced and was being hand quilted.  (I didn't get a picture   :-(  )    If you look closely, you might see part of my Secret Santa swap piece.  I'll start with a picture of fall color, just so you know it really is me!!
There were many cupcake potholders

Garden Twist.  I took the class last spring, but mine isn't finished.
Placemats designed by me.  Still need to be quilted and bound.

Simple but beautiful strips

These tablerunners were all the rage.

Two friends had purchased the same fabric and challenged each other to complete their tops.
Minnesota Hotdish - will be offered as a class in March.

And what might this be?  Looks like it still needs borders.

A very happy quilter with her bug creation.
As for CGQC Nov/Dec goals, I plan to complete the four items that I started at the Retreat.
1.  Placemats need to be quilted and bound
2.  Secret Santa swap piece needs borders, quilting and binding
3.  Fall wall hanging needs binding, and not sure what else.  (forgot to take binding with me!)
4.  Flower basket table-topper needs quilting and binding - got lots of advice on how to quilt
5.  Quilt and bind Garden Twist
6.  Finish quilting Turning Twenty (twelve in my case)
7.  Finish binding on class quilt
8.  Make at least one hexie flower per week
9.  Make Christmas cards
10. Enjoy holiday season

This sounds like a long list, but most of these are just finishing touches, and shouldn't take too long.  Now that it gets dark in the middle of the afternoon (I don't like it when Daylight Saving time ends) and now that the budget is finished at work, I'm hoping to be more ambitious with my projects in the evening.  I still have at least a zillion projects in my head, so I need to clear out the UFO's, so I can make room for more.

I am loving this picture, in your header~of the mini pumpkins all carefully placed on that brick wall!
    It's always fun, to pop in and see what you've been doing! {I'm not liking this Daylite Savings either!!}

  3. Sounds like a great get away. The pumpkin placemats are adorable. I am like a 2 year old when it comes to adjusting to DST. It takes me a few weeks to get my sleep patterns adjusted.Good luck with your goals!
