Hubby and I are away for our annual Labor Day weekend near Ashville, NC. We drove down yesterday afternoon/evening and the traffic was terrible. Apparently we weren't the only ones to get away for the long weekend? But we arrived at our destination without incident, and sat and chatted with our hosts for a couple of hours before turning in for the night. I tried to get online, but Mr. Host had made some changes to his wireless, and I couldn't connect. Fortunately, that was remedied early this morning.
We drove into Ashville this morning, and decided to take a Trolley tour of the town. We've been here several times before, but there was still much to see, and the tour was very informative.
There are some lovely old homes/buildings, many of which used to be medical buildings and hospitals.
There are some very interesting sculptures around the city.
And other forms of art as well. If you click on this picture to enlarge it, you will see that the 'grapes' are actually basketballs.
I got pictures of some of the 'wildlife'.
We finished off the rest of the afternoon with Tea at Chelsea's. I didn't think to take pictures until most of the food was gone, so trust me when I say we had some scrumptious food and a good time. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that the last Trolley of the day passed by while we were finishing up, so we had to call a cab to get us back to our car!
Now we are back at bil's and sil's, and the others are watching a movie that will cause me to have nightmares tonight. I simply cannot watch such horrors, so I'm blogging to try to keep myself distracted. And now, a few more gratuitous flower pictures, and then I'm off to read some blogs. Or maybe do some stitching? You know I brought projects with me.
Hope you're having a stitchy kind of weekend. And if you're reading this sil, sorry I didn't like your choice of movies.
I'm with you! There's no way I can watch anything even remotely scary. We're on vacation in West Virginia. Enjoy your stitching!
