The Adventure Begins

Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine.  Yeah!!!  We're in Maine at long last.  I won't bore you with pictures of taillights on the highway, and the weather was perfect so no rain or fog pictures.  The traffic was white-knuckle in a few spots, but mostly pretty good.  I got to work on this when it was DH's turn to drive:
It's such a mindless pattern, so it's nice and easy to work on when travelling.  I was so happy when we reached Maine.
found a brochure in here with all the Quilt Shops in the state!

Our destination today was Freeport, home of L.L. Bean.  We found a motel and got direction to a nice little place to eat.

Clam Roll and Clam Chowdah
We sat outside to eat, and watched a few boats come in for the night. One of my favorite things about Maine is eating seafood outdoors every day.  The summer crowds have gone, and the Leaf Peepers aren't out yet, so nothing is too crowded.  After eating, we went to a few of the shops, and naturally stopped at L.L.Bean.
The low point of my day came when I went to take this picture, and my camera was missing.  I backtracked to the shop where I had made a purchase to no avail, and then later found the camera in the car.  I guess it had fallen out of my pocket.  Whew!  I can't live without my camera, even though the big girl camera is in the car as well.  DH even drove back around here so I could get my picture.

Tomorrow will be a new adventure, as we're planning to go to Baxter State Park, in the middle of the state.  On past visits, we've stayed close to the coast, but I want to go to Mt. Katahdin, which is the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.  We won't be hiking to the top, but maybe we can find a short hike that isn't as strenuous.

It's been a long day, so we're turning in early......Sunny
