It’s All About The Weekends

I live for the weekend.  My job is a miserable place to be, and I’ve been unable to find a new job.  Yet.   Several people either quit or gave their notice this past week.  I’m so envious.  So I just live for the weekends!  And I come home every night and try to do something creative to put a positive spin on life.

We started here, on our way to our kayaking destination.  I stopped in for another ‘free’ Row by Row pattern, and came home with two new patterns in addition to the RBR and its kit.

Then on to kayaking on the Chesapeake Bay!

There aren’t many pictures, because in this kind of water, my camera spends most of its time packed in the dry bag.  I did get a few however.  The bay is dotted with sailboats on a beautiful day, and we saw several barges heading up the bay to the port of Baltimore.

There are two lighthouses, one very near our put-in, and one up towards Baltimore.

I never miss an opportunity to take a picture of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Our plan was to cross the bridge for dinner when we were finished kayaking, but we could see that traffic was barely moving, so we motored on in the other direction.  We found a new-to-us restaurant and had a delicious dinner.

I have a standing Sunday morning appointment that was cancelled this week, so I decided to take advantage of a free day, and spend the day sewing.  I finished 4 mug rugs, and most of a secret wall hanging.  I’ll try to get some pictures taken tomorrow to share. I also have two doll quilts waiting for their binding.

And now, I just have to get through five weekdays, and there will be another weekend!

  1. Oh.....Sunny !!!!
I'm glad there are weekends to enjoy........
That one looked good.....but I wouldn't get out on the water in a kayak.

  2. Hi Sunny i am sad for you that your place of work is not a nice place for you to be,i hope something comes up for you soon and as always i love your pics, enjoy your day my friend.xx

  3. I hope you can find somewhere else to work soon - it is hard being somewhere for so many hours a day where you don't feel happy. It's great you have such absorbing hobbies which keep you fulfilled. I do love your photos.

  4. Bummer Sunny.....sorry to hear work is not good....but boy how good are your weekends......xx

  5. yeah I hear ya about work. same thing is happening at my place. only thing I like is it is 9 minutes from home! keep your chin up and look forward to those weekends.
    sewing helps too

  6. I'm sorry that work's not good and hope that you find something else soon. You really do seem to pack a lot into weekends though, and the good thing about weekends is that they come round every 5 days!

  7. Life is too short to have to spend so much of it in a miserable place Sunny - I'll be praying for a better job for you! blessings, marlene

  8. Oh I am so sorry your work place is unpleasant , such a shame . It is however wonderful that you can spend your weekends enjoying the waters in your kayak , you are a braver woman than me . Great photos !

  9. Cheer up--pay checks are still coming in and you did not have to go to the dentist and get '3' teeth pulled this morning like I did!!
    hugs, di and miss gracie

  10. Love the photos. Know that weekend feeling and then the dread of Monday. Hope you get sonething else soon.

  11. I sure hope a new job opens up for you! It is so miserable going to work everyday to a job you don't enjoy. I would have scared silly on a little kayak on that big water! Glad you had a great weekend and hope your work week won't be too bad.

  12. I hear your pain, and have been there several times in my working life. Like you, I found creative and physical outlets and it does help, but a great work environment would make your week so much more pleasant!

  13. It is difficult staying in a job you don't enjoy, so I am pleased the weekends make you happy.
Glad you also had a good sewing day.

  14. Sunny I'm sorry to read of your difficulty with work... I hope something good comes along for you soon... only enjoying 2 days in 7 each week is not a good life!!

The Row by Row looks interesting, a great way to get around and visit new places!

Did you get my email about the book/pattern?

  15. It's almost the weekend again now -- hang in there! Your photos are beautiful, I especially love the bridge. I hope you get to do lots of fun, crafty things this weekend.

  16. too bad you don't enjoy your job but it looks like you enjoy your weekends. Good for you!

  17. Hello Sunny, It is hard to get up and go to work when you don't enjoy being there, but there is nothing that says you can't put feelers out while you're still working there. I would never quit a job until I hard another one. We do need those pay checks coming regularly.
I love that you kayak. My daughter loves it and even gave lessons before her first baby was born. I would like to try, but I'm afraid that with my arthritis I would get in and not be able to get back out, LOL.
I am your newest follower, a sister quilter who loves hexies.
    Happy to meet you.
    Connie :)
